Brian Burke’s love for music was evident early on as his parents tell tales of him singing constantly from the time he was only two years old. At the age of 8, he picked up a guitar and took lessons but was easily sidetracked by other boyhood activities such as football, baseball, fishing, and hunting. However, in high school, after seeing Cory Morrow perform a private party, Brian knew it was time to strap the guitar back on and pursue his dream.
He began learning cover songs and playing them for his friends. Shortly to follow Brian developed a taste for songwriting and soon began crafting his own songs using what he had gained by listening to his early influences. An obvious passion, Brian began playing acoustic shows in his senior year of high school and continued to do so throughout college amongst his days at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. This continued as he attended Texas State University where he began to catch the ear of many Texas Music fans. This ultimately led Brian down the path in which he now finds himself.
In early 2009 Brian recieved a phone call from long time friend and former roommate James Croucher asking him if he wanted to start up a new band. Croucher has worked in the music buisness for many years and has played with some great bands in and around the Texas music scene. Brian jumped at the opportunity to work with Croucher and the two quickly started putting together a game plan and collaborating on Burke's songs. Within a month they had a six song EP recorded and mastered. Also in the works was a deal with KB talent, and a chance to work with friend Bruce Kalmick. After siging with KB talent, both Burke and Croucher are pleased to be working with such a great booking agency.
The new CD is now available for purchase on I tunes and features some great musicains including Ross Smith, Evan Christian, Hoyt Stacy, Andy Abbott, and James Croucher. Since then Brian and James have put together a band of seasoned musicians to tour with including Robert Binovi on drums, Max Harger on bass guitar, Andy Tindell (formerly of the Gougers) on fiddle, and James Croucher (formerly of Owen Temple and Josh Abbott) on lead guitar. The combination of Brian’s vocals and songwriting mixed with the expertise of a professional touring band will be sure to turn many heads and create quite the stir among Texas music fans!
This year is shaping up to be a breakout year for the new songsmith.
