When Greg Hanna sings about hopping down off the tractor after a long, hot day in the sun on the farm, it’s not just a line in one of his songs; it’s a scene from his life and his very essence. The Eastern Ontario native grew up on a dairy farm, and is just as happy fixing a fence or milking cows as he is performing on a stage in front of thousands of screaming fans. The songs on Greg’s new self-titled album aren’t just products of his musical abilities; they’re also a glimpse into his very soul – little snippets of his life painstakingly sewn into an audio patchwork. Greg is a "Good Ole Boy", better known as a "Northern Hillbilly", growing up in a small farming town and having been raised as a dairy farmer, Hanna knows the "work hard - party hard" mentality first hand, and shows it on the stage as he always gives 110%. "I love to entertain and make people smile" he says, "When I get off the stage, everyone is havin' a party!" His high energy show is one everyone should experience.
With a string of top ten radio singles under his belt in Canada, Greg made the move to Nashville where he started his own record label, Pheromone Records. Under his imprint, Hanna released his first three singles to American country radio and worked them, with the accompanying music videos, to the top of radio playlists across the United States and Canada getting him exposure in over seven million homes. Hanna has had one of his songs recorded by country legend Sammy Kershaw, been part of the reality television show Nashville Star 3, been honored with the Country Music Association’s (CMA’s) Debut Artist Spotlight, performed at the CMA Music Fest, walked the Red Carpet at The 43rd Annual CMA Awards, performed coast to coast with the who's who of country music, and opened shows across the country for Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.
This year, Greg has been busy on a large-scale media tour visiting radio and television stations across the country showing his softer side and pulling on our heart strings with his brand new single "Makin' Love Real". The accompanying music video will have everyone falling in love this summer! "Makin' Love Real" is lighting up request lines all over the country and is one of three powerful love ballads on his debut CD that allows listeners to get a little closer to Hanna. For those who like to crank it up and rock out, you will love the high-octane “Bump in the Road”, the fun “Hillbilly Heartattack”, and the pure, up-tempo “Singing to the Radio”. Just try to forget the melody to the ultra-infectious “Song in My Head” once you’ve heard it. As much as he loves a great rock song, Greg definitely has a way with a heartfelt ballad. From his beautiful, sweeping testimony to that one great love, “Makin’ Love Real” to “In Between Dreams” that exudes a life and love so glorious it beats the dreams you have when you sleep, Greg proves he can go the vocal distance at both ends of the song spectrum. He tackles power ballads and scorching up-tempo beats with equal fervor. That passion definitely carries over into his personal life as well. Whether working hard or playing hard, Greg Hanna rolls up his sleeves, digs in, and gets it done. To him, if it’s not fun, or something you love, why do it? Like the lyrics in one of his songs “Live for Today”, he says “you can sit on the beach, I’m riding the wave”. It’s a philosophy that has served him well all along his journey towards superstardom and one he definitely lives.
